The overall result of the IRiS project is a semi-autonomous system that has created a novel interface of human-technology interaction through the digital twin, achieving 80 percent autonomous unloading of sea containers with a work rate of about 800 packages per hour. In normal operation, the autonomous work of the IRiS container unloading system performs all steps from Recognizing the stack of packages<\/em> to Conveying the packages<\/em> and thus reduces the physical demands on the operating personnel.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Based on the testers' feedback, the system visualization was implemented as a supplement to the representation via a desktop application, the support of virtual reality (VR) glasses, and expanded to include gamepad control with virtual mapping on smartphone and tablet. The combination of digital twin and various input and output devices allows both a great flexibility of the control of the presented unloading robot as well as a demand-oriented and user-oriented control of the largely autonomous system. The information processing, based on the models in the digital twin, enables a high level of system understanding as well as a clear representation of the intervention options and hence additionally contributes to the user-oriented MTI approach of the IRiS system. The evaluation showed that control by means of game controllers is preferred by employees in terms of both usability and goal fulfillment.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
